New cabins for the municipal cable car in Huy, Belgium

9. March 2023

Calag Gangloff was commissioned by the French ropeway manufacturer MND Ropeways, part of the MND Group, to build two new cabins for the modernised aerial tramway in the Belgian town of Huy. The two new cabins have a modern look with a very clear design reminiscent of the historic cabins. The generously glazed area provides a panoramic view of the town. The two cabins have a maximum capacity of 15 people each and are accessible to passengers with reduced mobility and cyclists. The new cabins are expected to be available to tourists in Huy from autumn 2023.

You can find out more about the project on the MND project page.

Individual cabins with great craftsmanship

The design of the new cabin was created by Avant Premier from Lyon, as it is intended to pick up on the design of the old cabins, which was designed by Ceretti&Tanfani. Due to their shape, the cabins are custom-made, the speciality of Calag Gangloff Kabinenbau. The rounded shapes of the windows pose a particular challenge for the glass panes. Therefore, panes made of PET-G were used, which allow the curved shape and at the same time provide the necessary stability. The guide rods projecting outwards serve to guide the cabins neatly when passing through the intermediate station and to avoid possible damage caused by the guidance system.

The final result of the cabins for the cable car in Huy, BE, is quite respectable and will leave an impression on the population and tourists alike.
