At the IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, Knapen Trailers unveiled the NEXT model year 2027, the next stage in the development of its push-floor trailers. The focus is on various smart innovations that enhance driver safety and comfort while enabling efficient and reliable operation.

With the new foldable EvoLift rear underrun guard, Knapen improves ground clearance at the rear of the trailer.
At the push of a button, the bumper automatically folds up to its highest position in just five seconds. This provides an additional 17 cm of ground clearance—a major advantage, for example, when driving over uneven terrain or during unloading. Since the rear light bar is automatically protected when the bumper is folded up, a protective cover for the rear light bar is no longer necessary.
In addition to the increased ground clearance, the development process also focused on user-friendliness, safety, and a long service life.
With the new SafeDeck XL, Knapen has developed a spacious operator platform that makes accessing the tarpaulin and working on the platform safer and more comfortable. The SafeDeck XL features a unique fold-out element that increases the platform’s standing area by a full 25%.
The SafeDeck XL was designed with a focus on safety, improved ergonomics, and greater comfort for the operator. Once the operator is standing on the fixed part of the platform, they can unlock and unfold the SafeDeck XL. This gives the operator access to a large platform that is completely surrounded by a sturdy railing. Thanks to the additional space, the tarpaulin is much easier to handle, and the risk of slipping, falling, or adopting unsafe working postures is significantly reduced. The platform, developed entirely by Knapen, is the largest in its class and offers the driver more space and safety when working on the trailer.
Knapen is also breaking new ground in lighting with SideGuide. With SideGuide, the work lighting is fully integrated into the design of the moving floor trailer.
SideGuide provides optimal illumination of the work area beneath and alongside the moving floor trailer. The indirect LED lighting ensures even illumination of the ground within a 1.5-meter radius on both sides of the trailer. SideGuide also provides excellent visibility of the control panel, toolboxes, floor system, and other controls located beneath the trailer.
The LED light strips are integrated into the lower chord. This unique positioning ensures optimal visibility around the trailer without causing glare. SideGuide enhances safety and ease of use for the driver in low-light conditions.
Further improvements have also been made to the front section of the trailer. The new coupling area combines design optimizations with the use of a higher-strength steel grade.
The result is a design that is both lighter and stronger, thereby making a further contribution to the optimization of the entire trailer.
For over 40 years, Knapen Trailers has been developing and manufacturing moving floor trailers for a wide variety of transport applications. With the NEXT model year 2027, the Dutch manufacturer is consistently advancing this development. The focus is particularly on three areas: low operating costs over the entire service life, safety and driver comfort, and customer-specific solutions.
