Willi Grüninger AG, based in Flums, combines centuries-old tradition with innovative solutions to produce high-quality food and feed products. This includes its own Flurina feed, which is reliably delivered to customers using the company’s own fleet of vehicles. As the latest addition to the fleet, the Grüninger team has opted for a bulk cargo tipper body manufactured by Calag.
It really can go almost anywhere!
Thanks to the reduced exterior width of just 2,300 mm for the cab and body, as well as the MAN TGS 26.480 6×2-4 BL chassis, the new vehicle is optimally designed for challenging delivery locations and narrow access roads. In this configuration—with a narrow design yet still featuring a loading ramp and rear lift—this vehicle is one of a kind and has been custom-built specifically to meet the needs of the Grüninger team.
The narrow Calag RKS 630/230/205 bulk cargo body offers a volume of approximately 28.7 m³. Four partition walls can be flexibly positioned using an external rail system and locked into a total of eight positions. This allows the cargo area to be individually subdivided depending on the transport job. In addition to the blower and airlock for unloading via hose, the body also features a separate grain outlet with a matching discharge hopper.
But the vehicle can do more than just transport bulk goods: Thanks to the Mammut rear lift platform, palletized goods or big bags can also be transported and conveniently loaded and unloaded. This makes the vehicle versatile enough to handle the various products and delivery orders of Grüninger Mühlen.
Attention was also paid to the requirements of daily use in terms of operation and safety. The safety railing on the body can be pneumatically raised from the ground, allowing the driver to climb aboard safely. Three side-sliding roof hatches made of corrugated aluminum sheet facilitate easy loading from above and are secured against accidental disengagement when open. Thanks to a radio remote control and viewing windows on both sides, the driver maintains full control over all processes at all times during unloading.
The result is a compact and versatile bulk cargo body that is custom-tailored to the delivery of Flurina feed and the other transportation tasks of Grüninger Mühlen—narrow and maneuverable for tight access roads, flexible for different types of feed, and, thanks to its lift platform, also suitable for general cargo.
